Barack Obama, the Republicans and the election of 2008: The power of fear and hope

Those who believe in hope, should never underestimate the power of fear and desperation. And come election day this Tuesday, the latter may very well carry the day, if Barack Obama fails to squeak through the eye of the political needle.

One has to be living under a rock to not sense the fear that has gripped Republicans in the wake of polls showing dwindling electoral options for Senator John McCain going into the Tuesday’s race. The high pitched hum drowning the voices of those who dare hope is the sound of the Republican machine going into spin overdrive. Obama definitely has their attention – thanks to polls and a media that has already crowned him the most electrifying figure to walk the political stage since JFK.

It’s as if some secret “May Day” APB has been put out to all operatives to make sure “Barack Hussein Obama” does not get elected President. The dialogue of the marginally obsessed has irretrievably been debased.
